Morning Beauty Elixir
A few years ago I read about drinking warm lemon water in the morning to flush and detoxify the body. I decided to give it a try and it's become a ritual that I love! When I travel and I don't drink my lemon water I really miss it. There are several beauty benefits to consuming lemons. Lemons are very high in vitamin C which is not only beneficial for warding off colds and illness, but is necessary for our bodies to make new collagen. Collagen is what keeps our skin pump and youthful! Fresh lemon juice also stimulates the liver to produce bile and to flush out toxins. 12-16 ounces of filtered water
1 inch of peeled, grated fresh ginger (good for immunity and digestion)
A dash of cayenne pepper (great for kicking a cold!)
A pinch of sea salt (alkalizing)
Cut the lemon in half and squeeze half the lemon into a mug (A good lemon squeezer really helps!). Fill the mug half full with cool filtered water. Meanwhile, boil a cup of filtered water in a saucepan or tea kettle. Top the mug off with the hot water. Sip and enjoy! Wait about 20 minutes before consuming any food so that the lemon has time to work it's magic.
